Aging under the righteousness Christ gives and forms.

“A crown of glory.” Does that crown make you secure, ashamed, or superior? You may treat years as proof of goodness, or hide them as evidence of decline. Both responses miss the verse’s weight. Gray hair is honored, but the honor is joined to a life shaped by righteousness.

The false refuge is your record. You can polish the crown with church service, endurance, or a respectable past, while neglecting today’s obedience. Age cannot make sin harmless. A long life may still conceal a heart curved toward self. The verse honors no mere accumulation of years; it names righteousness as the way by which glory is attained.

Christ does not leave you to manufacture that righteousness. At the cross, he bears the guilt beneath your failures and pride. In his resurrection, he gives a living righteousness, and his Spirit continues to turn your remaining days toward holiness. Gray hair is honored, not by age alone, but by righteousness Christ is forming. Will you receive your years as a crown of mercy and seek righteousness today?
