For the years when worship feels hidden and witness feels small.

There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity, and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and petitions night and day. Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
Luke 2:36–38

“She did not depart from the temple.” Anna’s endurance was not a decorative habit. She fasted and petitioned night and day, carrying long widowhood into God’s presence. Where has your worship thinned into a private demand for a visible result? You may use usefulness as a refuge, measuring your life by whether anyone notices your prayers or receives your witness.

Anna’s witness began when she came up at that very hour. She gave thanks before she spoke of the child to those looking for redemption. The temple was not a waiting room where she earned an answer. There she saw the Redeemer. The Redeemer meets long waiting with redemption, and gratitude becomes testimony. Jesus entered our frail condition, bore sin at the cross, and rose to secure redemption that age, silence, and death cannot cancel.

At your temple threshold, will you bring today’s petitions to Christ, thank him for redemption, and speak of him to someone still seeking it?

The Redeemer meets long waiting with redemption, and gratitude becomes testimony.
Prayer

Lord Jesus, keep my worship faithful, my gratitude awake, and my witness centered on your redeeming work.
