For seasons when weariness makes dependence impossible to hide.

The verse places exhaustion beneath a plain truth: the everlasting God, Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary. Human strength, even youthful strength, can fail; aging, illness, and long strain expose that limit. The eagle image therefore begins with no boast about the bird, but with the air that bears it. Renewal is received from the God who does not faint, not manufactured by the weak.

The verse's logic moves from God's inexhaustibility to our weakness, then to waiting. It does not flatter us with the promise that faith will restore youth or remove every ache. It names those who have no might and says that even the young utterly fall. I often treat weariness as an accusation, as though needing strength proved spiritual failure. But waiting for Yahweh is the honest posture of people who cannot supply what they lack. He gives power to the weak, and he increases strength where there is no reserve.

This provision comes to us through Jesus Christ, who entered our frailty, bore sin at the cross, and rose from the dead. His resurrection is the sure beginning of the strength Isaiah promises, not a guarantee that present bodies will never tire. The risen Christ meets the weary with grace now and will bring renewal to its fullness when he raises his people. Until then, running may become walking, and walking may become a slow confession of dependence; neither is beneath his care.

Everlasting God, give power to the weak and increase strength for those who have no might. Teach us to wait for Yahweh; renew our strength, and keep us from fainting as we walk.
