For the season when the next turn stays hidden.
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
When you refuse to lean on your own understanding, what are you afraid will happen? You want every turn explained before you take it. You call that wisdom, but Proverbs exposes it as a posture of trust: your heart is being asked to trust Yahweh, not to possess an account of the road.
Your refuge is a private map. You redraw each path until no uncertainty remains, then lean your weight on the map as though explanation could keep you from harm. It cannot. Anxiety makes understanding a substitute for acknowledgment; it keeps your eyes on the route and your heart from recognizing Yahweh in all your ways. You can release the map without abandoning the path.
Christ does not reward this demand with a diagram. In the incarnation, the Son entered the road; at the cross, he bore the guilt beneath your crookedness; risen, he intercedes for you when the next turn remains hidden. His grace meets you before you understand. Acknowledge Yahweh in the way before you, and entrust the unseen turns to the Lord who makes paths straight. Will you set down your map today?
You can release the map without abandoning the path.
Lord Jesus, teach me to trust Yahweh with my heart, acknowledge him in this way, and rest in your intercession when I cannot see the next turn.
