For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What could separate you from God’s love? Paul names death and life, the present and the future, powers, height, depth, and every created thing. His question reaches beneath your circumstances: which possibility have you quietly treated as stronger than Christ’s love?
Your false refuge may be control. You seek calm facts, favorable outcomes, or a disciplined mind to certify that you are safe with God. But circumstances move. Your mind falters. Fear treats each threat as a blade against the cord. No changing condition can secure what Christ has secured. No created thing can separate you from God’s love.
Paul does not say you will never suffer the reach of death, powers, or things to come. He says they cannot separate you from God’s love in Christ Jesus your Lord. Your security rests in a love no created thing can separate you from. The cross is not a vague sign of affection; it is the incarnate Son giving himself for sinners, and the risen Lord holds his people in that finished grace. When fear lists threats, answer with Christ—not with a forecast. Will you place today’s unnamed threat beneath the verdict of the cross?
