For the one who has spoken in His name and seen only trouble.
Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people. You have not rescued your people at all!”
Moses returns to Yahweh. He does not run from the burning bush's promise; he runs back to it, dragging an open ledger of complaint. The ledger shows the trouble, the failed embassy, the silence of rescue. This is the raw audit of a stalled promise.
The logic is devastating. Moses was *sent*. He *spoke in your name*. And the result was *trouble* for the people, not rescue. The verse ends with the starkest accusation a saint can make: "You have not rescued your people at all!" Here is my confession: I confess that when my obedience seems to multiply my troubles, I write the same verdict over Your silence, accusing You of forgetting Your own covenant.
But trace this ledger to the cross. There, the Son of God cried out the same bewildered "Why?" (Matthew 27:46). He took the full weight of "not rescued" upon Himself, absorbing the wrath our accusations deserve. Because He was forsaken, our bewilderment is no longer a sin to hide, but a prayer He carries. The resurrection is God's final entry on the ledger: the rescue is coming, even when the ink is still red with trouble. So we bring the raw questions, not tidied up, but trusting that the One who was sent has already answered the deepest why. Bewilderment is not unbelief; it is the raw prayer of the sent.
Bewilderment is not unbelief; it is the raw prayer of the sent.
Lord, when the trouble deepens and it seems You have not rescued, grant me Moses's holy boldness to bring my 'why' to Your feet. Let the resurrection be the answer I cling to until You rescue Your people at last, for I have spoken in your name and I will wait for Your rescue.
