For the season when the news is bad and the heart needs its footing.

The righteous will not be afraid of evil news, but the verse does not say he never hears it. The report still lands; it still has weight. The question is where his heart is standing when it does.

Your false refuge is composure. You keep your face unmoved and your plans in order, but bracing is not trusting. A heart that tightens against bad news is still taking orders from the news. “His heart is steadfast, trusting in Yahweh” — the trust is the very establishing the verse promises.

What God does for that condition is establish your heart in His Son. Christ received the worst report a human heart can face, the cross, and did not panic, because His heart was held by the Father’s promise to raise Him. God kept that promise, so the promise that you will never be shaken is not your own grip. Bad news may arrive, but a heart established in Christ is not at fear’s command. So when the report lands, will you take your footing from His resurrection?
