A season for giving from grace, not pressure.

Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6–8

The giving in this passage begins before the hand opens. It begins with a settled decision in the heart. Can you name what moves you: grace, or the fear that refusal will make you look faithless? Compulsion can sound pious. Its hidden refuge is approval purchased by overgiving. Then the gift is no longer free; it becomes a payment for a clean conscience.

The passage joins purposeful sowing with cheerful giving, and cheerfulness cannot be manufactured by pressure. God’s sufficiency does not mean every bill disappears or every limit is removed. It means God is able to supply what is needed for the good work before you. Grace does not squeeze generosity from you; it supplies what love can honestly release.

At the cross, Christ gave himself for sinners who had nothing with which to repay him. His gift is not a demand that you prove your worth by giving beyond your means. It is the ground beneath a willing gift. Receive that grace. Set an amount you can give without resentment, and let it be enough for obedience today. What will you release freely, without asking the gift to purchase your peace?

Grace does not squeeze generosity from you; it supplies what love can honestly release.
Prayer

Father, through Christ’s cross, free my giving from guilt and make my heart cheerful, truthful, and willing. Amen.
