For a week when one unpaid need keeps returning.

When money is short, need does not stay tidy. It presses into the body: a tight chest at the inbox, bills rehearsed in bed, shame when asking for help, fear that one missed payment reveals failure. Entrusting need to God does not require calling these pressures small. “Every need” allows the actual need to be named before any answer is visible. Your need is real, but it is not richer than Christ.

The verse turns your attention from the size of your account to the source of supply: God’s riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Picture a debt ledger beneath a royal seal. The figures remain legible; the debt is not denied or magically erased. Yet the ledger is no longer the highest authority over your identity. “According to his riches” means your standing before God is not calculated from savings, usefulness, or ability to repay. Supply may come through work, restraint, a church, a friend, or public aid; the verse gives no schedule. It gives a measure rooted in God’s abundance, not your deserving.

Jesus says the needy person is not discarded, and the Father calls you to bring the need into Christ’s shelter rather than hide it behind spiritual language. The riches are “in Christ Jesus”: the crucified and risen Lord has entered human weakness, borne sin, and lives to intercede. You may still feel the bill in your hands. You do not have to manufacture calm; you can place the need there again.
