A devotional for reconciliation when the wound still speaks.
But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.
The source is God. That is where reconciliation starts, not with your skill, your explanation, or the other person’s readiness. What would change if you stopped treating repair as a project you must control? The passage says God reconciled you to himself through Jesus Christ. Your estrangement from God is the deepest fracture in view, and he acted before you could repair it.
Your false refuge may be the other person’s apology. You make it the sluice gate through which grace may pass, so resentment remains in command. A real boundary may still be necessary; it cannot become your savior. At the cross, God was in Christ, not counting trespasses against those who deserve judgment. Reconciliation begins as God’s work before it becomes your ministry.
That ministry is not pressure to pretend the wound is small. It is carrying the word God has entrusted: Christ has made peace with God, so you can speak truth without demanding repayment. You may pursue confession, release vengeance, and leave the other person’s response outside your control. Will you let Christ’s reconciliation govern your next faithful word?

Lord Jesus, because your cross reconciles sinners to God, make me a truthful servant of reconciliation, free from both retaliation and false peace.
