Today: God’s mercy beyond your repair.

I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.
Isaiah 43:25

When the Lord says he blots out your transgressions for his own sake, where do you place your hope—on the strength of your remorse or on his character? You want pardon to rest on something you can produce. You make your sorrow a payment. But the reason given is not your improvement. The Lord acts from the steadfast purpose of his own mercy.

That exposes your false refuge: remorse as a ledger in which enough pain might cancel the debt. It cannot. The ink of sin is not lifted by rubbing harder; it is blotted by grace grounded in God. His refusal to remember your sins is not divine amnesia or a denial of what happened. It is his decision not to hold your guilt against you.

In Christ, that decision does not float above justice. At the cross, the Son bears the judgment your record deserves, so God’s holy name is honored while the guilty are pardoned. The risen Christ intercedes for you, not as a reward for polished repentance, but as the one who has finished the saving work. Will you stop presenting your remorse as currency and rest your stained record in his hands?

The ink of sin is not lifted by rubbing harder; it is blotted by grace grounded in God.
Prayer

Lord Jesus, keep me from making remorse my refuge, and teach me to trust your cross.
