“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” What do you expect to carry you when your own strength exposes its hollowness? Do you treat hope as a private reserve—something you must keep filled by managing your thoughts? That refuge leaves you staring into an empty lamp, measuring its oil while darkness gathers.

Your condition is not merely discouragement. You are trying to make yourself the source of what only Christ can supply. The riches of this mystery are not a better version of you. They are Christ in you: grace in the person who cannot manufacture glory. Hope is not confidence in your capacity to hold him. It is confidence in the Christ who has made his dwelling in you.

Because Christ is in you, glory is not a fantasy detached from your weakness. It is the promised end toward which his presence points. The cross has dealt with your guilt; the risen Christ gives your future a living center. When you feel barren, do not consult the lamp as though its brightness were your life. Look to Christ within you, the hope of glory. Will you abandon the reserve and trust the indwelling Savior?
