For the season when certainty keeps shifting.
My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us.
When your soul is told to wait in silence for God alone, what does it reach for instead? You may say God is your rock while leaning your weight against control: rehearsing outcomes, securing approval, demanding certainty. That refuge is made of scaffolding. It shakes because it depends on you. The psalm exposes misplaced expectation. Your hope is revealed by where you go when the ground moves.
God is not merely a stronger version of your refuge. He is your salvation, honor, fortress, and rock of strength. In Christ, the cross answers your deepest exposure: your standing is not secured by a managed life but by the crucified Son who bears your guilt. His resurrection gives you a living Savior, and his intercession keeps your hope from resting on your grip. Hope rests in Christ, not the fragile shelter of your control.
So pour out your heart before him. Bring the fear, resentment, and need for certainty into the refuge God himself provides. Trust him at all times, including the hour when your circumstances remain unsettled. Will you stop defending the scaffolding and take shelter in Christ?
Hope rests in Christ, not the fragile shelter of your control.
Lord Jesus, teach me to pour out my heart and rest my hope in your saving intercession.
