Final healing is promised in the renewed creation, where God dwells with his people.
I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.” He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”
What would it mean for you that God’s dwelling is with people? Your hope can shrink until final healing means only the removal of symptoms. You may treat a pain-free future as a private escape from embodied life, rather than the God who promises to dwell with his people. That is a false refuge. You do not merely need an ending to pain; you need the end of death’s reign and the restoration of belonging.
Your final healing is not escape from creation but God dwelling with you in it. The promise reaches beyond temporary relief: God wipes every tear, and mourning, crying, and pain are no more because the first things have passed away. Christ’s resurrection guarantees this renewal. The risen Christ will not abandon the material life he took; God’s faithful promise will stand.
Let this promise enlarge your hope. Do not ask only for a body without pain; long for the Lord who makes all things new and keeps his people with him. Will you entrust your final healing to Christ’s faithful promise rather than a private escape?
Your final healing is not escape from creation but God dwelling with you in it.
Risen Christ, keep your promised renewal before me when pain narrows my hope, and teach me to desire your dwelling with your people. Amen.
