For the season of unanswered longing

How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me? Behold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death; lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him;” lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.
Psalm 13:1–5

God’s face hidden—that is the wound beneath the waiting. You can endure a closed door, but a hidden face makes you feel forgotten. So the question returns each month: how long can you keep asking before you conclude he has forgotten you?

David takes counsel in his own soul, and the counsel always ends in sorrow. Your false refuge is that same inner arithmetic: recalculating cycles, due dates, and possibilities, as if enough calculation could turn God’s face toward you. It cannot. It only gives the enemy a voice in your own head.

On the cross the Son asked the same 'How long' into the same hidden face. God answered by raising him. That resurrection is the 'answer me' already given—the light to your eyes that no negative test can extinguish.

Will you carry that light into the next unanswered month?

Will you carry that light into the next unanswered month?
Prayer

Lord, give light to my eyes while the answer still tarries.
