For the season when work is uncertain and the calendar feels ungoverned.
But I trust in you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me. Make your face to shine on your servant. Save me in your loving kindness.
When your times are in God’s hand, what are you clutching as though your future depends on your grip? A lost job can make each application, email, and account balance feel like a verdict. You want control because waiting feels exposed. But control is a false refuge. It promises safety while tightening your fear.
The psalm’s appeal for deliverance names hostile hands, and your pressure may come through bills, rejection, or silence rather than a named enemy. Do not baptize panic as responsibility. Your times are not loose coins; they are held by God. That does not promise a quick offer or painless days. It gives you somewhere truthful to stand when the calendar refuses to explain itself.
Then look to the mercy named here: God’s face shining on his servant and salvation in loving kindness. In Christ, God has not watched your uncertainty from a distance. The incarnate Son entered human need, bore sin at the cross, and now intercedes for you. Your employment is unstable; Christ’s welcome is not. Bring today’s fear under his hand, and ask what faithfulness requires before you know what comes next. Will you release the outcome without releasing your honest need?
Your times are not loose coins; they are held by God.
Lord Jesus, keep me from false refuge, receive my fear, and teach me to trust your loving kindness today. Amen.
