For the season when employment is uncertain and help is needed now.

When work disappears, the heart can feel summoned before a locked throne: accounts tighten, applications go unanswered, and tomorrow seems to pronounce judgment. Yet Hebrews sets a different scene. The unemployed and anxious are not told to manufacture dignity before approaching. The Son of God has passed through the heavens, and the throne before which we stand is a throne of grace. The throne of grace is not closed to the person whose future feels closed.

The verse’s logic rests on the priest who can be touched by our infirmities. Jesus has been tempted like us, yet without sin; therefore our need does not make Him recoil, and our failure to cope does not disqualify us. I confess that I often treat urgency as a reason to hide rather than an invitation to draw near. But “with boldness” means coming honestly because the priest is merciful, not pretending to possess strength that the present crisis has stripped away. The command to hold tightly to our confession steadies the soul around Jesus when employment cannot steady it.

This access was purchased, not assumed. Christ carried our guilt to the cross, where His sinless obedience stood in the place of sinners, and His resurrection confirms that the crucified Son now lives as our great high priest. So timely help is not a promise that every application will succeed or every bill will be solved at once. It is mercy for the guilty, grace for the ashamed, and Christ’s living welcome when need has become immediate.
