For marriages learning to wear compassion in ordinary moments.

Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
Colossians 3:12–14

What are you wearing when ordinary marriage asks for patience again? Colossians calls you to put on compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance. These belong at breakfast, in the car, and beside the unfinished task, where a tired face can become an inconvenience. Daily love becomes visible when compassion is worn where your spouse is weakest.

Your trouble is not merely that love feels thin. You reach for irritation because it fits quickly. You dress a complaint in sarcasm, then call the distance honesty. “Bear with one another” exposes the problem: your spouse must often earn the gentleness you were meant to wear freely.

Christ does not leave you to manufacture a tender heart from bare willpower. He forgave you at the cross; therefore your forgiveness has a sure reason when a complaint is real. You are beloved before you perform well. Love binds these virtues together, so kindness can remain when affection is not vivid and perseverance can continue without pretending the hurt is small.

Before you answer the next offense, will you put down sarcasm and clothe that moment with compassion because Christ has forgiven you?

Daily love becomes visible when compassion is worn where your spouse is weakest.
Prayer

Lord Jesus, make your cross-shaped forgiveness visible in my next ordinary response.
