The one who hears Christ’s words and does them is called wise. Does your marriage actually rest there, or does it merely admire the right foundation? Rain, floods, and wind do not ask what your shared life claims; they reveal whether obedience has become its footing.

Your actual danger is hearing together without doing together. You may discuss Scripture, agree with it, and still let convenience govern the next hard conversation. Shared Christian vocabulary can become a false refuge: it sounds like a house on rock while your choices remain untested. A house can hear Christ’s words and still fail to stand when hearing never becomes doing.

Christ does not leave this exposed marriage to manufacture obedience from shame. At the cross, he bears the judgment your divided practice deserves. The risen Christ gives his indwelling Spirit, so his words can govern one concrete act between you today. The storm may still come; the promise is not a painless home, but a foundation that does not collapse. What will you obey together before the next rain?
