For parents learning to receive what they cannot manufacture.

If children are a heritage from Yahweh, why do you keep treating your child like evidence that you are succeeding? A heritage is received, not engineered. Yet you may measure your child's visible progress as though a flourishing child could secure your worth. The false refuge is control: managing the child's image so no one can question your own.

Psalm's logic confronts your ownership. The child is not your project, proof, or possession. The womb's fruit is not wages earned by parental excellence. It arrives as gift, and gift exposes your craving to claim credit. When you turn a child into a trophy, you ask the fruit to reward you.

But Christ meets this grasping. At the cross, Christ bore the judgment your demand for a successful child deserves. In his resurrection, your standing is received through him, so you can receive your child without demanding that his or her future repay you. The child remains Yahweh's heritage, placed in your care for faithful love, not displayed for your vindication. Release the trophy and receive the entrusted gift.
