A morning call to stop provisioning desire and put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Make no provision for the flesh” asks more than whether you will resist at the final moment. What have you already arranged for desire? You may keep access open, protect the private hour, and rehearse the excuse. That is not helpless surprise. It is preparation. The false refuge is a stronger intention tomorrow. You cannot put on Christ while laying out clothes for desire.

Romans places this exposure under a larger light: night is far gone, day is near. Throw off deeds of darkness. Put on armor of light. Walk properly as in the day. The answer is not merely removing an opportunity; it is putting on the Lord Jesus Christ. In his incarnation, Christ came into your darkness without sharing its sin. At the cross, he bore the guilt of your disordered desire. By his resurrection, he is the living Lord you are commanded to put on, and his indwelling Spirit makes this obedience more than self-repair.

Before the next invitation arrives, remove the provision you have been defending. Refuse the arrangement. What desire have you been preparing to obey, and what provision must you remove before you claim to be resisting it?
