A season of waiting for renewed strength

but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

The promise begins with waiting. What do you expect renewed strength to do for you? You may want enough force to escape the long obedience—to finish the run, skip the weary walk, and arrive where waiting no longer tests you. Yet the verse gives a pattern: mounting, running, walking. Strength meets you at the pace you are actually given.

Your deeper trouble may be distrust of ordinary faithfulness. You reach for a new plan, a louder prayer, or a deadline you can control. That deadline is a false refuge. It asks tomorrow to carry the weight assigned to today’s walk. Renewed strength is given for today’s walk, not borrowed from tomorrow’s wings. The eagle’s ascent and the runner’s pace do not erase the weary walk; they show that waiting can hold steady obedience.

In Christ, waiting is not a bare test. The incarnate Son entered weakness, and the risen Son now intercedes for you. His resurrection secures your hope; his Spirit supplies strength without pretending the path is short. You can bring your weakness to him without demanding heroic stamina. Will you receive today’s strength for today’s step instead of demanding tomorrow’s wings?

Renewed strength is given for today’s walk, not borrowed from tomorrow’s wings.
Prayer

Lord Jesus, keep me faithful in today’s walk, and teach me to receive strength from your grace.
