For the season when silence tests the refuge you say you trust.

“Your soul rests in God alone.” Can you remain there when no answer arrives? Silent waiting exposes whether rest is trust or merely stillness until God speaks. The phrase “from him” matters. Your salvation is not secured by receiving explanations. You are safe because God himself is your refuge, even when the refuge is quiet.

You may shelter in the fortress while secretly fleeing it. You check your phone for a message that will settle what God has left unresolved. That is the false refuge: control disguised as discernment. Silence tests whether God himself is your refuge, or merely the answer you want from him. A fortress cannot become more secure because you pace its floor. Stop demanding that silence prove abandonment.

Christ meets this exact fear at the cross. He secured salvation through his substitution, not through your ability to interpret silence; the risen Christ now intercedes for those who wait. His work gives the fortress its foundation. You need not manufacture movement to be held. Rest there.
