For the season of tending what has been entrusted.
Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
“To cultivate and keep”: is that how you receive what has been placed in your hands? The garden scene places a person under a charge, not in possession of something to redesign. Your work may be entrusted ground. What are you neglecting because its growth is slow?
The deeper problem may not be laziness. You may be trying to secure yourself by controlling the garden. You measure worth by yield, then clutch every result as proof that you belong. Control is a false refuge. It turns keeping into possession and cultivation into pressure. You are a keeper at the gate, not the owner of the garden.
Christ meets this grasping stewardship with the grace of his cross. He bears the judgment your failures deserve, and his resurrection gives you a living Lord rather than permission to abandon the ground entrusted to you. He intercedes for you when patience thins and care becomes self-protection. Receive today’s patch as a charge, not a verdict. What can you tend and guard today without making it prove your worth?
You are a keeper at the gate, not the owner of the garden.
Lord Jesus, forgive my possessiveness. By your cross and intercession, teach me to cultivate patiently and keep faithfully what you place before me today. Amen.
