For the worker learning to place both labor and outcome before the Lord.

Proverbs 16:3 places a folded blueprint before the Lord: deeds are not merely activity to bless afterward; they are the very work we commit. The order matters. We bring labor and its intended results out of our private grip and set them before Yahweh. The verse calls for surrender before it speaks of succeeding plans. That exposes our instinct to ask God to endorse what we have already decided.

I confess that I often call a plan “committed” when I have only asked the Lord to protect a preferred result. That is not trust but control wearing religious language. To commit deeds is to place the actual labor, not an edited summary, before him; to commit plans is to let their success rest under his wisdom rather than a forecast. The promise does not turn Yahweh into a servant of a schedule. It teaches that plans succeed under his rule, whether success looks like completion, redirection, or patient faithfulness. Plans succeed under the Lord's hand, not because human control has finally become strong.

This surrender has a center: Jesus Christ. At the cross, he did not preserve a humanly attractive plan; he gave himself in obedience, and the resurrection vindicated the Father's purpose. Therefore committing deeds to Yahweh is not spiritual self-management. It is bringing work to the crucified and risen Christ, whose finished labor bears the shame of controlling hearts and whose living rule can establish what ours cannot. Plans may be altered without labor becoming meaningless, because success is received beneath the Lord's hand.
