Daily labor under the horizon of eternal life.

“Food which perishes” reaches past your schedule and into your hope. You may labor for wages and praise, hoping finished work will prove your worth. The false refuge is productivity: a table piled high with completed tasks that cannot feed the soul. Your work matters, but it cannot become your food.

The command redirects labor toward what remains to eternal life. That does not make ordinary work irrelevant; it exposes its limit. Your hands can produce things that decay, while your heart asks them to produce permanence. Labor ordered toward what endures cannot be fed by perishing things. Christ, not your résumé, must become the treasure your effort cannot manufacture.

The Son of Man gives the food that remains. He does not pay you with immortality for sufficient effort. The Father has sealed him, and the cross shows the cost of this gift: Christ gives himself for workers who have spent their strength on perishing things. Stop asking your labor to sustain your soul; receive from the sealed Son what your work cannot give.
